Pennington Day May 21, 2016
Come Out and Play!
Pennington, NJ – Pennington Day will take place Saturday, May 21, 2016, 10am – 4pm. Centered on the crossroads of E. Curlis Avenue and Main Street, Pennington Day highlights the best of the town of Pennington and historic Hopewell Valley. More than an average street fair, this event combines community with art as well as family friendly fun and local vendors.
Pie Eating Contests! Live Bands! Interactive Games! Funnel Cakes and Cotton Candy! This event will span Pennington’s Main Street from Food Court at Toll Gate Grammar School, the Capital Health Kids Zone, through town to Howe Commons’ HV Arts exhibits, to the ecofriendly booths of “Green Street”. There are three stages of live entertainment from the main Crossroads Stage to the Commons at Stage 3 and the relaxed atmosphere of the Coffee House Stage, where The Patio food court includes offerings from exotic food trucks, Nomad Pizza, Rita’s and Arlee’s!
Pennington Day is a celebration of the community’s talents played out across the backdrop of leafy Pennington Borough. Experience the enormous artistic talents of community based artists with an entire area sponsored by HV Arts Council. There are multiple stages of live local music, performing and dance troupes, as well as the colorful Quilt Show — all featured throughout the day. Bring your family to experience a warm, friendly and historic community so rare in today’s digital world. New Jersey Family Magazine recently toted the town as New Jersey’s “Number 1 town for Families”.
Now in its 35th year, Pennington Day evolved from a community picnic organized in 1980 to raise funds for The Pennington School after a devastating fire. It has grown over the years into a polished, yet still community-sized event that continues its charter to give back and strengthen its community. Through the generosity of event sponsors, the Pennington Day Board of Directors raises funds in the form of community grants. In 2014, thirteen grants were awarded to local non-profits to support various missions totaling $13,500. The grant ceremony will be held during the festivities at the Crossroads Stage.
Pennington Day is a staple not only in the community but throughout Mercer County as it signals the unofficial start of Summer. The dedicated volunteers who put their time and efforts into producing this event, have but one true mission on this day – to spread joy amongst all who attend, perform and exhibit.
